About
Boycott USA 2026 is a campaign organized by an informal group of international soccer supporters based in New York City. We’ve spent decades supporting our favorite clubs, and working to support immigrant communities where we live. Some of us even have fond memories of the 1994 World Cup, but… we are all concerned about hosting the 2026 World Cup in the USA under this new and increasingly authoritarian administration.
We are witnessing alarming shifts in domestic, immigration, and international policy: Visitors from the UK, Australia, Germany, and France have faced unjust detentions and interrogations at the border. US citizens and indigenous people have been detained while ICE demanded proof of citizenship. The administration has revoked thousands of visas and denied entry over protected speech, while legal residents in ICE custody have been deported to foreign prisons without due process.
For anyone thinking of visiting the USA, we want to highlight these changing risks. Our site will feature news and commentary about policy issues that are raising concerns about the USA as a World Cup host, and provide resources on how to safely navigate interactions with immigration & law enforcement.
We also aim to weave a solidarity network of boycott pledges & statements from fans, supporters, journalists, and other organizations. Participating nations should demand that FIFA prioritize the safety and civil rights of their players and fans. The United States must abandon its immigration crackdowns, return those who have been unlawfully deported, and end its hostile diplomatic policies. If it cannot commit to these demands, games scheduled within the USA must be moved or boycotted.
